Dear colleagues,

Like many of you, I have watched with some level of concern the announcement by Boris Johnson last evening.

These are unprecedented times for all of us. In these days and weeks ahead, we need to support each other and be there for one another. We are a strong team of managers, nurses, carers and support staff. We work our best as a team and at times like this we need to stay strong as a team.

And just like the many staff employed within the NHS, we have an important job to do to ensure those vulnerable people within our care are properly cared for. It is for this reason, and this reason alone, that I urge you to stay strong. I am very conscious that we urgently need to supply you all with the appropriate PPE, and to ensure supplies of hand sanitisers and face masks are provided and maintained. We remain in regular contact with suppliers, and with the CCGs, and we are doing all we can to ensure these items are made available just as soon as we can get them.

We provide a vital service, and one that comes with it a level of responsibility that we cannot deny. Our residents need us, and our very best levels of care is what we will continue to provide to them.

It is of course not nice that we have had to restrict visitors into our homes, and even more so when those restrictions are to our residents’ families and NOK. More than ever before the relatives of residents that have been entrusted within our care need to know that we are looking out for each and every one of them, because right now their relatives would want to be wrapping their arms around their loved ones and telling them how much they are loved.

In the weeks to come our results will prove that what we did, and how we did it, was the best way in which we could look after our residents, and the best way to keep them safe. What we are doing is absolutely the right thing to do – because the right thing will always be the right thing.

Please stand by your managers and I in helping to fight this horrible disease.

Should any staff member at any time feel that there is more that we can do to support you then please drop a line to our excellent HR colleagues at They like me will do all within our power to ensure the company you work for, the one that we all represent, is there to do what’s right by you.

Thank you for all you are doing – it is appreciated more than you could possibly know.

With best wishes,

Eve Tierney
