Our Team

Eve Tierney

Director of Clinical Development

Eve is a Registered General Nurse with over 40 years of experience, specialising in Surgical Nursing, ITU/CCU, and most notably managing the Accident & Emergency Trauma Service in Glasgow.

Eve has extensive experience in the private healthcare sector, supporting care homes through change and development, improving both care standards and business performance. Eve has held senior roles including Care Home Manager, Regional Support Manager, and Director of Care. She has also worked in the pharmaceutical industry, focusing on the clinical effects of medication in dementia care. Eve holds multiple management qualifications and a diploma in dementia. She is deeply passionate about person-centred care and ensuring older people are treated with dignity and respect.

Eve currently serves as Director of Clinical Development and is a Non-Executive Board Member of the Malhotra Group. Eve is also an active Independent Domestic Violence Advocate, committed to supporting survivors of domestic abuse.

Nicola Bowles

Director of Care

As Director of Care, Nicola oversees the operations of 19 care homes across Prestwick Care and Lifestyle Care. She is responsible for driving occupancy, ensuring efficient service delivery, leading quality improvements, commissioning new services, and embedding a strong, person-centred care culture.
Bringing a wealth of experience from both the public and private sectors, Nicola has held senior leadership roles including Commissioning Manager, Regional Operations Manager, and Head of Compliance. In these roles, she has consistently delivered high regulatory ratings, enhanced customer experiences, and implemented innovative care strategies.
Nicola is passionate about creating outstanding environments for both residents and staff. She champions a culture of collaboration and excellence, with a particular interest in exploring digital solutions to enhance care delivery.

Gillian McCabe

Director of Quality and Governance

Gillian has worked in Health and Social Care for 38 years. She is a Registered Social Worker and holds a Level 7 Best Interest Assessor qualification, an Executive Diploma in Management with Chartered status, and is trained and skilled in health and safety requirements.

Gillian’s professional background includes a breadth of roles in both the public and private sectors, with significant experience in community-based services, adult protection, service development, quality assurance, governance, and regulation. She previously served as an Adult Social Care regulator with the Care Quality Commission, where she supported and collaborated with Home Managers and care teams to improve service standards, contributing to numerous homes achieving ‘Good’ and ‘Outstanding’ ratings.
Gillian joined Prestwick Care in December 2022 and currently serves as Director of Quality and Governance, leading on all aspects of quality and compliance. She brings deep expertise in compliance oversight, risk management, and driving service excellence within health and social care. She is adept at implementing strategic quality initiatives, ensuring regulatory adherence, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

She is a principled and compassionate leader, dedicated to upholding the highest standards of integrity in quality assurance and governance. She consistently strives to ensure ethical practices and deliver inclusive, high-quality services that meet and exceed people’s expectations.

Her ultimate aim is simple: to ensure that everyone experiences the best possible quality of life.

Claire Hagon

Clinical Practice Development Manager

Claire is an experienced Registered General Nurse who remains passionate about delivering effective, evidence-based clinical care. She takes pride in her clinical knowledge and her commitment to continuous learning, and actively encourages and supports others to do the same. Claire is also a qualified Trainer, Assessor, and Coach.

She plays a pivotal role in ensuring the highest standards of care and support by leading clinical teams across the homes. Claire provides ongoing guidance, mentorship, coaching, and delivers clinical training to promote excellence in practice.

Tanya Westgarth

Quality & Compliance Manager

Tanya has worked in the care sector since 2001, bringing over two decades of comprehensive experience across a wide range of roles. She began her career as a Care Assistant and progressed into increasingly senior positions, including Senior Care Assistant, Team Leader, Deputy Manager, Registered Manager, and ultimately, Head of Operations. Having worked her way up through the sector, Tanya offers valuable insight into the challenges and opportunities at every level of care delivery. This first-hand experience enables her to provide practical, informed support to teams and ensures operational decisions are rooted in real-world understanding.

After managing care homes, Tanya transitioned into a Quality and Monitoring role, later progressing to become a Quality and Compliance Manager. This career path reflects her long-standing commitment to achieving and maintaining exemplary standards of care. She is passionate about ensuring homes consistently deliver safe, effective, and person-centred care. Her extensive operational background underpins a proactive and rigorous approach to governance, compliance, and continuous improvement across all areas of service delivery.

Tanya also has experience as a Designated Safeguarding Lead, where she was responsible for promoting a culture of safety and embedding robust safeguarding practices across services. In addition, she has served as a Dignity Champion, advocating for the rights, respect, and dignity of all residents, further demonstrating her deep-rooted commitment to quality, compassion, and ethical practice.

A strong advocate for continuous professional development, Tanya believes that ongoing staff learning and education is essential to delivering the highest standards of care. She works closely with teams to foster a culture of reflection, growth, and excellence in practice.

Tracey Garland

Operations Manager

Tracey qualified as a Registered General Nurse in 1992 and has dedicated the majority of her nursing career to the care home sector.

Her first managerial role came in 1997, when she was promoted to Deputy Home Manager at a Nursing and Residential Home in the Sunderland area. In 1999, she was further promoted to Home Manager within the same home, a position she held for 20 years. During this time, Tracey consistently achieved and retained a Gold rating with the Local Authority which is a testament to her commitment to quality care.

Tracey joined Prestwick Care in 2016 and, over the past nine years, has been promoted into the role of Operational Manager, where she now oversees seven homes within the Prestwick Care portfolio.

Sophie Wells

Operations Manager

Sophie is an experienced care professional who has worked as both a Registered Manager and a Support Manager, overseeing multiple care homes and driving improvements in care delivery.

She has extensive experience supporting individuals with nursing needs, dementia, mental health conditions and learning disabilities. Known for her empathetic and compassionate approach, Sophie is passionate about person-centred care and creating meaningful interactions for residents.

A strong advocate for mental wellbeing, she is also trained to deliver staff training in managing distressed behaviours, particularly in dementia care.

One of Sophie’s proudest achievements was becoming a CQC-registered manager at just 22, one of the youngest in the country. She believes strongly in developing staff through ongoing learning and support.

Now in her role as Operations Manager, Sophie brings a ‘fresh eyes’ approach, representing a new generation of care leaders who are passionate about innovation, quality, and making a positive difference in residents’ daily lives.

Vicky Bracey

Clinical Development Manager

Vicky is a Registered Nurse with over 36 years of experience. She qualified as a State Enrolled Nurse in 1989 and later converted to a Registered General Nurse.

Her nursing background is rooted in general nursing, with a particular focus on acute and long-term care of older people, both within the NHS and in care home settings. Vicky also specialises in Palliative and End of Life Care, having led a hospice team in the charity sector. She holds a Diploma in Nursing Practice and a Degree in Palliative Care, along with qualifications and experience in clinical teaching. Vicky is passionate about supporting and developing others to reach their full potential in practice.

She has worked as a Care Home Manager for Prestwick Care for the past seven years, successfully managing three homes within the group, one of which maintained an Outstanding CQC rating under her leadership. In recognition of her contributions, Vicky received the Outstanding Achievement Award from the company in October 2023.

Vicky is deeply resident-focused and committed to ensuring every individual receives the highest standard of personalised care. She actively involves residents’ families and friends to help maintain the best possible quality of life for as long as possible.

Wendy Hooper

Training Manager

Wendy joined Prestwick Care in 2014 as Training Manager. In this role, she is responsible for delivering all mandatory face-to-face training, supervising the learning management system, and organising any necessary external training to support staff development.

Wendy also supports the operations and compliance teams with audits and provides additional support as needed across the organisation.

She holds a PTLLS Level 4, NVQ Level 3 in Training and Development, and Assessor qualifications. In addition, she is a qualified Moving and Handling Trainer and is accredited as a trainer by both the Parkinson’s Society and the Alzheimer’s Society.

Outside of work, Wendy is an active member of Durham City Archers, where she enjoys shooting a recurve bow.

Colin Tierney

Administration Manager

Colin joined Prestwick Care in 2012 as an Administrator at Heatherfield Care Home. Over the years, he has grown within the organisation and now holds the position of Administration Manager for Care.

Throughout his career, Colin has gained extensive managerial and administrative experience across a variety of sectors, bringing a well-rounded skill set to his current role. In his spare time, he enjoys watching sports, photography, and gardening.
