Cestria House, which opened in 1999 in Jesmond, Newcastle upon Tyne provides modern, welcoming and homely spaces for living, rehabilitation and relaxing, spread over three ﬂoors.
Our home caters for individuals with general residential and dementia residential needs. The emphasis is on individual care. Only very high calibre of staff are employed with a commitment to ongoing training and all staff have achieved NVQ qualifications.
Each of the 21 single bedrooms have been beautifully decorated and furnished with carefully selected bespoke fabrics and carpets, giving residents the perfect backdrop to personalise their rooms and make Cestria their home.
LCD televisions and internet access is provided as standard.
Residents can relax in the privacy of their bedroom or in one of Cestrias communal lounges which offer an informal space to chat with other residents, family or friends, and participate in activities and celebrations. Residents have space to socialise, relax and participate in activities throughout the home. There is lift access to all ﬂoors.
The home is staffed by dedicated trained carers who aim to offer residents the opportunity to enhance their quality of life. We provide a safe and comfortable environment to give support and stimulation to our residents.

Our qualified Chef provides a varied and exciting menu to incorporate choice and special preferences.
We have a purpose built kitchen and laundry facilities. All of our exits are secure. You can use any area of the home at any time. We also welcome professionals from the wider community into Cestria, with complementary services, such as hairdressing, chiropody and dental care available by arrangement. We work closely with everyone involved in the care and welfare of our residents, from family and friends to GPs, carers, nursing professionals and nutritionists to meet the demands of our commitment to providing the highest quality care.
Cestria House is situated in the heart of a vibrant and bustling community. Surrounded by local amenities including a Post Office, various shops, St Georges and St Hilda’s Churches, and local travel links, our location will help residents to remain part of, and enjoy community life. Further afield, Gosforth High Street and Newcastle City Centre are just a few minutes away by Metro or bus.
About Our Manager
The Home Manager at Cestria House is Kathy Burns. Kathy has worked at Cestria House since 1999.
Kathy has a BSC in Health and Social Care and PGC Ed. She places a high value on the importance of family and thinks of the residents of Cestria House as her extended family.
In 2014, Kathy was the regional winner of the Registered Managers award at the prestigious Care Awards. She was a runner up at the National Care Awards the same year. Kathys team has registered for the Awards in 2015.
