Melton House Declared As Outstanding!

We are absolutely delighted to share some wonderful news from Melton House. Following a recent inspection, our Newcastle care home has been awarded an Outstanding rating by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) – the highest accolade possible.

This achievement is a huge moment for everyone connected to Melton House. Inspectors praised our compassionate, knowledgeable and respectful staff, recognising the dedication and care they show every day. With this latest rating, we are proud to say that Prestwick Care now has five homes rated Outstanding.

All areas of Melton House were commended during the inspection. The CQC highlighted the home’s positive culture and atmosphere, along with our truly person-centred approach to care. As a purpose-built, 67-bed home overlooking Newcastle Racecourse, we provide personal and nursing care for older people, including those living with dementia and physical disabilities.

Following a thorough inspection, Melton House was rated Outstanding overall, with specific Outstanding ratings for care and leadership.

In its report, the CQC said that people living at Melton House are supported to have maximum choice and control over their lives, with staff delivering care in the least restrictive way possible. Inspectors also noted how proud our staff are to work here and how supported they feel by the management team, describing leadership as extremely knowledgeable with a clear understanding of their roles and responsibilities.

The report concluded that the outcomes for people receiving care and support were exceptional, with extremely positive feedback from residents and their families. Inspectors observed that people were treated with the utmost respect by compassionate and kind staff, who consistently showed empathy in every interaction.

Outstanding ratings are awarded very rarely by the CQC, making this recognition even more special. Melton House is the second Prestwick Care home to achieve this rating in the past two months, following our sister home, Bede House in Sunderland, which was rated Outstanding in October.

To celebrate this incredible achievement, residents and staff came together on 19th December for a truly special occasion. We raised a glass with fizz, enjoyed live music, and shared plenty of laughter, dancing and joyful moments – a celebration that perfectly reflected the warm, vibrant community at Melton House.
