About

Hadrian House provides general nursing, Dementia Nursing and Dementia Residential Care for older people.

Hadrian House has been designed and purpose-built to provide the very best in specialist care within the North East. Each of the 50 single en-suite bedrooms have been beautifully decorated and furnished with carefully selected bespoke fabrics and carpets, giving residents the perfect backdrop to personalise their rooms and make Hadrian House their home.

Many of the bedrooms feature en-suite wetrooms, with specialist furniture and mobility aids where required to ensure the comfort and wellbeing of our residents. LCD televisions and unlimited internet access is provided as standard.

Residents can relax in the privacy of their bedroom or in any of Hadrian House’s communal lounges which offer a range of formal and informal spaces to chat with other residents, family or friends, and participate in activities and celebrations. Hadrian House has a variety of lounges and dining rooms on each floor, giving residents plenty of space to socialise, relax and participate in activities throughout the home. There is lift access to all floors and some of the upper floor bedrooms benefit from a Juliette balcony, giving residents the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors from the comfort of their own room. Additional outdoor space is provided on the roof terrace overlooking Wallsend Golf Course and gardens, where residents can relax in the fresh air without leaving the upper floor.

We understand the importance of independence and encourage our residents to participate in the many and varied activities which take place at Hadrian House where possible. These events include gentle exercise, physiotherapy, bingo, cards, film nights, carpet bowls, art classes and music, as well as celebrations for our residents and their families.

We work closely with everyone involved in the care and welfare of our residents, from family and friends to GPs, carers, external professionals and nutritionists to meet the demands of our commitment to providing high quality care.

Hadrian House recently took part in pioneering research alongside The Health Foundation, with the aim of encouraging shared decision making and making care more person-centred.  A short video was made to explain the project and tells the story of how the well-being of older care home residents is enhanced by making sure they are only prescribed the medicine they really need, and the positive impact this has had on the people who work on the project too.  To view this short film, please click here.
